Lori McKibben, LMSW

Hi fellow Social Workers! I am Lori McKibben, LMSW, and am honored to represent District 1 on the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners. I completed my BA in Psychology (2005) at the University of Alabama. I took advantage of the Mental Health Concentration within the MSW program and was afforded an invaluable opportunity to complete my placement at Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility and earned my MSW (2007) at the University of Alabama.

I returned to my hometown in Houston County and began my clinical career 19 years ago, becoming a Licensed Social Worker in 2013. I have served in various capacities within the Mental Health field including Outpatient treatment, Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization, Partial Inpatient Hospitalization, Emergency Department as well as the Judicial system. I have served as a Community Mental Health Officer under the appointment of Houston County Honorable Judge Patrick Davenport. I have had the pleasure of working with MSW Social Work interns during their field placement in the Inpatient Psychiatric setting as well as the Emergency Department. I have been employed as Director of an Intermediate Care Program when state hospitals closed. For the last 5 years, I have been employed by a non-profit agency within a Correctional Setting providing services to clients in an Administrative Management Unit.

With my experience in assessing, advocating, and providing treatment to some of the most vulnerable and at risk populations, I have seen the vital role Social Workers have within our communities. The continuation to expand quality services in order to provide for those in need is of utmost importance.
